Overview – Laser Hair Removal Treament

In general, laser hair removal is a technologically advanced laser procedure designed to remove the hair and hair follicles by using a highly concentrated beam of light energy.

The laser targets hair follicles and the procedure eliminates or significantly impedes hair from growing back. Laser hair removal is popular because it is minimally invasive, virtually pain free, and requires no general anesthesia.

CO2 treatments have long been regarded as the gold standard in wrinkle removal and skin rejuvenation, and the new fractional CO2 laser delivers powerful results without the discomfort or side effects of previous CO2 lasers.

Laser Technology

Currently, there is no laser available that will completely remove hair in just one session. The lasers available today certainly do completely remove hair permanently, but a series of laser treatments is required.

During the treatment, the high intensity laser light passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. The laser pulses long enough to vaporize the pigment, disabling several follicles at a time, thereby resulting in the elimination or significant hindrance of any hair growth in the treated area.

Number of Treatments

Only 1 treatment (1 visit) is required per visit for laser hair removal. The recommended plan is to have 7 to 9 visits, no sooner than 4 weeks apart, but it can be later. Treatments can be done in Costa Rica, at home, or anywhere that is convenient.

How many treatments you will need, depends on the amount of hair and how your body (the dermis) reacts to the laser.
